12 Movies Banned due to Sexually Explicit Material

Bollywood Film Industry is the largest film industry after Hollywood. It creates a number of movies everyday which creates record in all over the world. Now a days Bollywood films are going to release in all over the world and getting more and more revenue but there are some movies which didn't came in front of people or people don't know it because that movies have sexually explicit material or controversial topics. Due to that reasons that movies are banned. 

Here we will show you the movies which are banned by Indian Censor Board.

1. Kama Sutra - A Tale of Love (1996)
Kama Sutra movie was said most explicit, unethical and immoral for the audiences. Mira Nair was the director of this movie which depicted the lives of four lovers in the 16th century in India, was a hit with the critics but a major flop with the Censor Board and Ultimately got banned.
 2. SINS (2005)
 Sins was an erotic journey of a priest who falls for a woman and get sexually involved with her. This Film is filled with obsession, lust and struggles with the norms of the society we lived in. Censor Board banned this movie due to the excess scenes of nudity in this film.

3. Unfreedom (2015)
Unfreedom was a thriller which talks about a lesbian love story, Censor Board could not digest the nudity and the lovemaking scenes between the two protagonists. Due to this Censor Board banned this movie.
 

4. Urf Professor (2000)
In this movie of Pankaj Advani, there were a lot of valgur scenes and bold language also used in this film. Due to this this movie got banned by the Indian Censor Board.


5. Black Friday (2004)
This movie was made on the true story of the bombay bomb blasts. Movie faced a stay order from the bombay high court because the 1993 bombay blasts case and ramained slated-to-release until the trial got over. 

6. Paanch (2003)
It was the Anurag Kashyap movie which faced a lot of heat from the Censor Board. It was made on the serial murders in 1997, the movie was thriller with violence, bad language and drug abuse. Censor Board decided to ban the film and people had to watch the pirated version of the film.

7. Parzania (2005)
This movie was made on the backlash of Gujrat Riots in the year 2002. Even though the film won a National Award but political parties did not allowed to let it screen in Gujraat, where it was fiercely banned.
 

7. Gandu (2010)
This Bengali movie was a rap musical which created a lot of buzz for its oral sex scenes and nudity. It was shot in black & white format, the movie was banned because it defied indian sensibilities.

8. Firaaq (2008)
Firaaq was reportedly based on true incidents which happened in the riot-torn Gujraat. Nandita Das was widely criticized for hurting the sentiments of Hindus and Muslims and ultimately the movie got banned.

9. Water (2005)
Its director was Deepa Mehta who faced a lot of controversy because of its dark insights on the life of the indian widow. Set in a certain Ashram of Varanasi, the script of the movie was written by Anurag Kashyap and took up controversial issues like ostracism and misogyny which were alien to the Indian Censor Board back then.


10. Fire (1996)
This movie is also from Deepa Mehta which garnered a lot of critical acclaim worldwide but failed to impress Hindus groups in India due to its subject which dealth with lesbian relationship between two sisters-in-laws in a Hindu Family. Director Deepa Mehta received death threats too, finally Censor Board had to banned this film.


11. The Pink Mirror (2003)
This film brought the concept of trans-sexuality to the forefront. The story dealt with the quest of two transsexuals and a gay teenager to seduce a straight man. Censor Board got offended by the Vulgarity in the movie and banned it even after the film garnered rave reviews at film festivals around the world.


12. Bandit Queen (1994)
This movie was straight up offensive, vulgar, indecent and almost laughed at the cinematic conversation of the Indian censor board. Based on the life of Phoolan Devi, this movie was banned due to its explicit sexual content, nudity and abusive language which the censor board could not digest.
